48th Annual Cultural Competition

It’s now your chance to bring out your excellence is recitation, essay writing, elocution, quiz and debate at the 48th Annual Cultural Competition conducted by Ramakrishna Mission Shillong.

The programme is for the students of Meghalaya - from nursery to the college level. It aims to provide the budding youth a platform to show-case their talent and instil confidence in them.

There is no entry fee for the Cultural Competition, but you can always extend your helping hand for the future citizens of India!

Rules and regulations

  • General Information

    1. Form to be submitted online only . Last date for submission of Forms online is 6th of July 2022. Forms can also be submitted through Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Quinton Road, with effect from 15 June 2022 onwards.
    2. For online enrolment and downloading of pieces please visit our website www.rkmshillong.org
    3. If Pre – KG is equivalent to Nursery, parents should mark it as Nursery, otherwise it shall be treated as KG.
    4. Competitor of Group ‘G’ (KG) and Group ‘H’ (Nursery) may recite any nursery rhyme of his or her choice. Competitors from class – I (one) onwards will recite selected poem, which can be downloaded from our website (www.rkmshillong.org).
    5. Candidate should not make any Personal Introduction before any performance during the competition.
    6. For Sanskrit Recitation, Chanting/Singing in tune shall not be allowed.
    7. For Vocal music competition, competitor has to sing from selected songs only in 4 (four) minutes (selected songs are available in our website). Accompaniment should be restricted to Harmonium, Tabla and Tanpura. u The authority will not provide any accompanist.
    8. Decision of the judges shall be final and binding for all. NO COUNTER QUESTION IN THIS REGARD SHALL BE ENTERTAINED.
    9. Last date for enrolment is 6th July, 2022.

    1. Nursery and KG participants may recite any nursery rhyme of his or her choice.
    2. Participants from class -I (one) and above, will have to recite the selected poem, which can be downloaded from the website www.rkmshillong.org or from the given link.
    3. For Sanskrit Recitation, Chanting/Singing in tune shall not be allowed.

    1. Medium for ‘Sit & Draw’ for groups I to IV (i.e. from Nursery to Class IV) can be Crayon / Pencil / Pen / Charcoal. (Pastels and Painting is not Allowed). They can draw as they like.
    2. ‘Sit & Draw’ for Group V (Class V &VI), participants will draw as they like in medium Crayon/ Pencil/ Pen / Charcoal / pastels.
    3. For ‘Sit & Draw’ Groups VI & VII (i.e., from class VII to X) Medium: Pencil / Pen / Pastels / Charcoal / Watercolor.
      Specific topic shall be given on the spot from the following themes:
      1. Unity in Diversity
      2. India’s struggle for Freedom
    4. Students for Drawing Competition should bring all required drawing materials except drawing paper, which will be supplied by the organizers.

    1. For Vocal music competition, competitor has to sing from selected songs as given below in 4 (four) minutes times.
    2. Accompaniment should be restricted to Harmonium, Tabla and Tanpura. The authority will not provide any accompanist.
    3. Please check the program schedule for details of group wise timing.

  • The participant has to speak on the given topic. Reading from a script would disqualify the candidature.

  • 1. For Essay Competition, the length of the essay will be limited to not more than One Thousand words to be written in one hour's time.
    2. Participants should report at the venue, atleast 15 minutes before commencement.

    1. Participants to join as a team of two members, one to speak ‘for’ the motion and the other ‘against’ the motion.
    2. Competitors are to submit their names in pairs for Quiz and Debate competition.
    3. The topic for Debate – In The Opinion Of The House : “Further Development of Artificial Intelligence Should be Banned”
    4. Reporting will commence 30 minutes before the start of the competition.

    1. Participants are to submit their names in pairs as a team.
    2. Preliminary round will be held online at 10:00 am and semi finals will start from 1:00 pm, final is scheduled at 4:00 pm.
    3. Participants should report atleast 15 mintues before commencement of Preliminary round. IN NO CASE LATE REPORTING OR REPORTING AFTER COMMENCEMENT OF THE COMPETITION SHALL BE ENTERTAINED
